The Romanian Government remains a firm partner of all recognized religious cults, in the spirit of peace and unity, said interim prime minister Catalin Predoiu on the occasion of the Feast of Sacrifice.

"On the occasion of the Feast of Sacrifice, I extend my wishes for peace, health and fulfillment to the members of the Muslim community in Romania - a diverse community, made up of Turks, Tatars, Arabs and other ethnicities, under the guidance of the Muftiate of the Muslim Cult in Romania and various associations. This celebration is an opportunity to reflect on values such as generosity, respect for others and solidarity. The Muslim community in Romania is actively involved these days in supporting those in need, through acts of charity, highlighting the spirit of mutual aid and cohesion in the society," said Catalin Predoiu.

Romania is a democratic state in which religious freedom is guaranteed by the Constitution and respected through a clear and stable legislative framework, he underscored.

"The Romanian state maintains open relations with all 19 recognized religious cults, in the spirit of cooperation for the common good, community cohesion and social peace. The Muslim community in Romania represents an integral part of our society, having an active and responsible presence in cultural, economic and social life. This presence reflects an authentic model of harmonious coexistence and civic involvement, based on the values of a moderate Islam open to dialogue," Predoiu also stated.

The Muftiate of the Muslim Cult in Romania, under the leadership of Mufti Iusuf Murat, has an essential role in the affirmation and development of this community, the prime minister highlighted.

"Through his dedication and perseverance, the values and religious heritage of the community are protected, and interreligious dialogue is cultivated responsibly, contributing to strengthening trust and cooperation between religious cults in Romania," Predoiu added.

In a national and international context marked by tensions and uncertainties, religious cults have an essential role in promoting dialogue, social balance and peace, the prime minister pointed out.

"The Feast of Sacrifice thus becomes not only a celebration of faith, but also an exhortation towards empathy, collective responsibility and unity. By caring for the vulnerable and by affirming moral values, religious communities contribute to strengthening solidarity and maintaining an open and balanced society," Predoiu said.
