AEP clarifies DNA request on S.O.S. Romania Party lists for EP elections being made available

The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) announces that it received a request on Friday from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice - National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) regarding the provision of the candidate lists submitted by the S.O.S. Romania Party for the European Parliament elections of June 9.

At the same time, the AEP clarifies that the requested documents are to be submitted later on Friday, and no searches took place at the headquarters of the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) or the Permanent Electoral Authority.

"Considering the erroneous information circulating in the public space and for the correct information of the public, the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) makes the following clarifications: Following the cessation of the activity of the Central Electoral Bureau for members from Romania in the European Parliament elections in 2024, the entire archive of documents was archived at the Permanent Electoral Authority. We mention that on Friday, December 13, 2024, a request was received from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice - National Anti-Corruption Directorate regarding the provision of the candidate lists submitted by the S.O.S. Romania Party for the European Parliament elections on June 9, 2024. We also mention that the requested documents are to be submitted during the day on Friday, December 13, 2024, with no searches taking place at the headquarters of the Central Electoral Bureau or the Permanent Electoral Authority," the AEP mentioned in a press release.
