The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) announces that as of Monday, Romanian voters with a domicile or residence abroad who wish to vote in this year's presidential election by mail or at a polling station outside the country can register online on the portal www.votstrainatate.ro.

According to a press release from the AEP, by 11:00 AM, four requests for voting by mail had been received.

The portal includes two sections: Voter abroad at a polling station and Voter abroad by mail.

A voter wishing to register for voting by mail must complete an online form, which includes their name, surname, personal identification number, address of domicile or residence, email address, and the option to send their vote to the country or to the diplomatic mission via mail. Along with this form, the voter must attach a scanned copy or photo of their identity document and the document proving their right of residence, issued by foreign authorities.

The deadline for registration in the Electoral Register as a voter abroad by mail is March 20, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

Additionally, Romanian voters who choose to vote abroad at a polling station will complete an online form, where they will enter their name, surname, personal identification number, email address, and the locality and country where they wish to vote, attaching a scanned copy or photo of their identity document. The AEP mentions that a polling station can be established upon the request of at least 100 citizens from the same locality or from a group of localities.

The deadline for registration in the Electoral Register as a voter abroad at a polling station is March 4, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

The list of documents proving residence abroad is included in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Order no. 373/2024, with subsequent amendments and additions, and can be accessed on the ministry website.

Voters for whom the Electoral Bureau for voting by mail has not registered the receipt of their vote option envelope can exercise their right to vote at that election at polling stations.

Questions and complaints related to the registration procedure can be sent to the email address [email protected], the AEP also specified. AGERPRES
