AEP; Over 770k people cast ballots in diaspora by 3 AM on Monday

A total of 744,350 voters cast their ballots in the diaspora by Monday at 3:00 AM in the parliamentary elections, according to real-time data provided by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP).

According to AEP, from the opening of the polls on Friday at 8:00 PM until Monday at 3:00 AM, 770,138 Romanian citizens turned out to vote, and 4,343 voters cast their ballots by mail, bringing the total number of votes cast abroad to 774,481.

The highest number of Romanian voters was in the United Kingdom - 142,100, Italy - 128,302, Germany - 122,389, Spain - 95,364, and the Republic of Moldova - 81,021. Additionally, 39,079 Romanian citizens voted in France, 34,357 in Belgium, and 26,957 in Austria.

In the diaspora, voting by mobile ballot is not allowed.

Voting in the diaspora for the parliamentary elections took place over two days, Saturday and Sunday, according to local hours.
