'Alexandru Ioan Cuza' University of Iasi (UAIC), together with the 'George Enescu' National University of Arts in Iasi, will organise an anniversary ceremony to mark the 165th anniversary of the founding of the two institutions.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the event will take place on 24 October at 14:00, in the Main Hall of the 'Vasile Alecsandri' National Theatre in Iasi.
'The University Days programme includes over 80 academic events, including scientific communication sessions, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, symposia, colloquia, debates, round tables and sports activities, organised by UAIC's 15 faculties, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research, UAIC Publishing House, the Anastasie Fatu' Botanical Garden and the UAIC High School. The ceremony will be attended by professors, researchers and students of UAIC, members of the Romanian Academy, representatives of the academic community in Iasi, cultural institutions and the business sector, as well as local and national officials,' the release reads.
According to the programme, between 24 and 26 October, UAIC will host the Joint Conference of the National Councils of Rectors from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, bringing together academic leaders from both countries to debate strategic topics regarding the future of education and research.
Also on Friday, at 11:00, the Japanese Cultural Centre of 'Alexandru Ioan Cuza' University of Iasi will be inaugurated in the presence of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Romania Takashi Katae. The inauguration will take place at the Centre's headquarters, located on Gheorghe Asachi Street, no. 16.
As every year, one of the most appreciated moments of the University Days will be the exhibition of flowers, fruits and seeds titled 'Flori de toamna' (Autumn Flowers), now in its 49th edition, organised at the 'Anastasie Fatu' Botanical Garden of UAIC. The exhibition will be open to the public from 24 October to 16 November.
On Monday, the UAIC Student Gala will be held in the 'Mihai Eminescu' Aula Magna, during which students with the best academic results will be awarded.
The conference 'Dimitrie Gusti - Professor at the University of Iasi' will take place on 29 October in the 'Ferdinand' Hall (Building A, 2nd floor, Rectorate), continuing the series of events aimed at highlighting nationally significant figures who were part of the academic community of 'Alexandru Ioan Cuza' University of Iasi.
