Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete stated on Tuesday that there was no discussion at the Government level about reducing the number of positions in the healthcare sector.

He specified that the reduction in the number of hospital beds continues by 20%, as shown in the government program, refers to a resettlement of the health system and a resettlement of the type of medical services that hospitals offer to patients.

Alexandru Rogobete emphasized that hospitals will not be closed.

"What I want people to understand is that this reform is in their support. Hospitals will not disappear, beds will not physically disappear. (...) In no way has the reduction in the number of healthcare positions been discussed, nor has it been put on the table for discussion, neither in the government nor anywhere else, and this 20% reduction in the number of beds has nothing to do with the number of positions. On the contrary, we may need additional staff once we develop a specialized outpatient clinic," the Minister of Health also pointed out.
