The first exercise this year to assess the level of preparedness of the population, economy and territory for defence - MOBEX - will take place between May 11 and 15 in the counties of Alba and Hunedoara.

According to a press release from the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) sent on Monday to AGERPRES, the exercise is organised by the Ministry of National Defence in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Issues, local public authorities, public institutions and economic operators with responsibilities in the field.

MOBEX-type activities are conducted periodically and aim to verify the staffing and equipment levels of military units, as well as to strengthen cohesion between reservists and active-duty personnel.

Reservists residing in Alba and Hunedoara counties will be called to designated units to take part, for one day, in specific training activities.

At the same time, the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Issues will carry out evaluation activities involving local public administration authorities, public institutions and economic operators in Alba County.

Similar exercises were previously held in Alba County in 2016 and in Hunedoara County in 2018.

MOBEX is organised under the provisions of Law No. 477/2003 on the preparation of the national economy and territory for defence and Law No. 446/2006 on the preparation of the population for defence.

Reservists will be summoned through mobilisation orders for exercises and training, delivered via the specialised structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, while the evaluation activities of local public authorities and economic operators are organised and coordinated by the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Issues.

In 2026, three MOBEX exercises are planned: Alba-Hunedoara (May), Neamt-Suceava-Botosani (September) and Bucharest-Ilfov (October).

"To avoid disinformation and the spread of false news, we underline that these activities are routine in nature and are not related to the security situation in the region. We recommend that citizens rely on official sources," the Ministry of National Defence said.
