Almost 8,000 police officers were additionally deployed in the field in the last days, in the counties affected by snowfall so as to prevent events due to bad weather, the Romanian Police General Inspectorate (IGPR) informs in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Friday.
According to the quoted source, measures to manage the effects of meteorological phenomena were taken from 17 to 19 January.
Thus, as many as 7,928 police officers in the counties under meteorological warning acted daily in this interval with 4,123 vehicles to prevent events generated by dangerous hydro-meteorological phenomena.
During warnings, police officers applied 12 penalties to road managers and 643 sanctions to drivers, of which 6 due to lack of snow tires and 637 for violations of the road traffic order.
The National Meteorological Administration issued three nowcasting warnings, 17 to 19 January, the phenomena envisaged being quantitative rainfall, mostly snow and gusts of wind.
