Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Romania, Mrs. Willemijn van Haaften was on a visit to the municipality of Constanta on Friday, which included meetings with representatives of Dutch companies that have invested in the seaport, as well as a tour of the city's iconic building - the Casino.
According to the local administration, the members of the delegation led by the ambassador also met with the mayor of Constanta, Vergil Chitac, on which occasion "the very good cooperative relations between our countries, but also between the municipality of Constanta and the Dutch Embassy, as well as the shared interest in sustainable development projects" were highlighted.
"Her Excellency appreciated the warm welcome and emphasized that Romania and the Netherlands share many joint goals. The visit to Constanta also included meetings with Dutch companies with significant investments in the seaport, as well as a tour of the Casino - one of the city's landmark buildings, that was recently restored," the Constanta City Hall release reads.
Talks focused on the main areas of interest for Dutch investors in Constanta County: the agri-food industry, agriculture, urban development and sustainable mobility. The importance of the Middle Corridor for European trade, a strategic project at the regional level, supported and operationalized by Romania together with Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, was also emphasized.
The mayor presented to the guests the institution's significant progress in attracting European funds and in implementing major projects to modernize infrastructure, mobility and public services - aspects that all contribute to the transformation of Constanta into a modern, connected and investment-friendly city, as well as the openness to support large-scale Dutch investments in the city, the municipality also informed.
According to the source, the meeting concluded with an agreement for the Dutch ambassador to return to Constanta, accompanied by business representatives interested in developing projects on the Black Sea coast.
