Romanian wrestler Andreea Beatrice Ana will fight for the bronze medal in the 55 kg category, Tuesday, at the World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb (Croatia), inform Agerpres.
Ana beat Chinese Xuejing Liang in the preliminaries on Monday, in the round of 16 she defeated American Cristelle Noelle Rodriguez, won in the quarterfinals against Canadian Karla Lorena Godinez Gonzalez, but lost the semifinal to Russian Ekaterina Verbina and will fight for bronze.
In men's freestyle wrestling, Daniel Marian Sandu was defeated in the round of 16 by North Korean Kwang Jin Kim.
Romania is participating in the World Wrestling Championships, scheduled for September 13-21, with a team of 10 athletes. In women's freestyle wrestling, Romania will also be represented by Beatrice Ferent (53 kg category), Roxana Capezan (62 kg), Kateryna Zelenykh (68 kg), Alexandra Anghel (72 kg).
Last year, the World Championships were only held in non-Olympic categories, with Romania winning a silver medal, through Katerina Zelenykh (65 kg), and a bronze medal, through Denis Mihai (Greco-Roman 55 kg).
