The president of the National Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) Alexandru Bociu proposed to the Algerian partners the development of a draft contract for live sheep export, so as to optimize future trade.

Bociu had an official meeting on Thursday with the ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria at the Algerian Embassy in Bucharest, the ANSVSA announced on Facebook, agerpres reports.

"The ambassador expressed his appreciation for how the loading and transport operations for the sheep bound for Algeria for the national holiday Eid al-Adha unfolded. In order to optimize future trade exchanges, the president of ANSVSA suggested the development of a draft project/contract agreed upon by both parties, which would establish in advance the number of animals, their breeds, sex, weight and age, allowing Romanian farmers to prepare adequately and meet the technical requirements of the Algerian partners," ANSVSA said.

According to the cited source, the ambassador expressed the openness of the Algerian side to expand commercial cooperation with Romania beyond the export of livestock to meat (carcasses) and cereal products.

"ANSVSA plays an essential role in guaranteeing veterinary and food safety standards for products intended for export. The active involvement of the authority in this type of international collaboration contributes to the consolidation of trade relations and the promotion of Romanian products on foreign markets," ANSVSA wrote on social media.
