The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued on Friday a series of Code Yellow warnings for strong winds, valid until Saturday evening in areas of Muntenia, Dobrogea and Oltenia, as well as a weather advisory for similar phenomena affecting most regions.
According to the specialised forecast, the first Code Yellow will be in effect on Friday from 10:00 to 23:00 across almost half of the country. Thus, winds will strengthen in Oltenia, Muntenia, Dobrogea and southern Banat, reaching speeds of 50-70 km/h. In the Banat Mountains and locally in the high areas of the western Southern Carpathians, the gusts of wind may temporarily exceed 80-110 km/h.
A second Code Yellow for wind will be valid from 23:00 on 5 December to 08:00 on 6 December in areas of Dobrogea, Muntenia and southern and western Oltenia, where gusts of wind are expected to reach 50-65 km/h.
Moreover, on Saturday between 08:00 and 20:00, a third Code Yellow for strong winds will affect Dobrogea and the southern, central and eastern parts of Muntenia, where winds are expected to reach 50-65 km/h.
At the same time, from Friday morning until Saturday at 22:00, a wind advisory will be in effect across the southern, central and eastern parts of the country. On Saturday (6 December), winds in the south and southeast will generally reach 45-50 km/h, while in mountainous areas, especially at higher altitudes, gusts could exceed 60-80 km/h.
