Another 48 new cases of measles have been registered this week in Romania, with the total number of illnesses currently reaching 20,072, the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) informs on Friday.
According to the INSP, the 48 newly confirmed cases were reported between 11 and 15 May in 3 counties: Cluj - 27; Bihor - 6 and Maramures - 15. Cases of measles reported weekly have started 2 to 4 weeks ago, and confirmation and classification of a case lasts an average of 3 weeks, the INSP states.
Thus, since the onset of the epidemic, the total number of confirmed measles cases in Romania reported by 15 May is 20,072, of which 64 deaths.
