The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) has become an official member of the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN), which brings together national authorities from around the world collaborating to prevent and combat fraud and unfair practices across borders.

"The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) marks a landmark moment internationally: at the High-Level Conference of the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN), held in the Dominican Republic from 30 September to 3 October 2025, Romania was officially accepted as a full active member of ICPEN. Through this affiliation, ANPC joins a prestigious global network of consumer protection authorities from over 70 countries, dedicated to international cooperation in fighting unfair commercial practices and cross-border fraud. Romania's accession as a full member confirms the credibility and institutional maturity of ANPC at the international level," the authority said in a press release.

ICPEN is one of the most important global networks in the field of consumer protection, bringing together national authorities worldwide to collaborate on preventing and combating fraud and unfair practices across borders.

According to the release, full ICPEN membership represents international recognition of ANPC's progress in consumer protection and an important step in strengthening Romania's institutional capacity to cooperate globally. By joining the network, ANPC will gain access to global cooperation mechanisms, international resources and expertise, as well as modern tools for effectively combating abusive commercial practices, including in the digital environment.

"The ICPEN Secretariat sent an official welcome message, congratulating Romania on joining as a full member and emphasising its appreciation for our country's commitment and contribution to strengthening international cooperation in consumer protection: 'It is a great pleasure to have Romania with us as a full member and to work together on our shared mission to enhance consumer protection worldwide,'" the release adds.
