April unemployment rate down to 5.7%

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.7% in April 2025, down 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous month, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Tuesday.

The unemployment rate among men was 0.5 percentage points higher than that of women, agerpres reports.

The estimated number of unemployed persons (aged 15-74) for April 2025 stood at 467,400, a decrease compared to the previous month (490,900 persons), but an increase compared to the same period in 2024 (431,000 persons).

By gender, the unemployment rate for men exceeded that for women by 0.5 percentage points (with values of 6.0% for men and 5.5% for women).

According to INS, the high unemployment rate among youth (aged 15-24) remains notable, recorded at 24.8% for the period January-March 2025.

For adults (aged 25-74), the unemployment rate was estimated at 4.5% for April 2025 (4.7% for men and 4.2% for women).

The number of unemployed persons aged 25-74 accounted for 73.8% of the total estimated number of unemployed for April 2025.
