Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Toiu highlighted during a meeting on Friday with her Austrian counterpart Beate Meinl-Reisinger the existing potential for economic and investment cooperation, as Austria is among the top three foreign investors in Romania, the Foreign Ministry informs in a release.

The Romanian top diplomat evoked in the discussions the benefits of boosting bilateral relations, both in terms of political dialogue and by promoting concrete projects in areas of strategic relevance. Among other things, Minister Toiu referred to the opportunities in the energy and financial-banking sectors.
"Also, the Romanian Foreign minister stressed the special importance of interpersonal relations between the two countries, especially due to the Romanian community in Austria, pointing out that Romanian nationals represent the second largest community of foreigners in Austria and contribute significantly to the economic and social life of the host state. At the same time, she expressed appreciation for the openness shown by the Austrian authorities in relation to topics of priority interest for Romanian workers," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentios.
The two officials also looked at priority topics on the European agenda, such as advancing the European Union enlargement process and the future Multiannual Financial Framework, the release also states.
