The Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR) will table a censure motion against the government within the constitutional deadline of three days from the Executive's pledging responsibility for the austerity package, AUR Lower House floor leader Mihai Enache announced on Monday.

"In the face of this betrayal, AUR will do its duty as an opposition party and will take all possible steps to submit a motion of censure against the government led by Mr. Ilie Bolojan. The motion sets off from some very simple premises. We cannot take even a dime from retirees who collect pensions of RON 3,000, which are actually survival pensions, while keeping special pensions untouched. We are not allowed to take one dime from child-rearing mothers as long as the huge incomes of tens of thousands of euros pocketed by directors and white collars in various institutions, who have no status other than that of party members, are off limits. We cannot charge the business environment even 1% extra tax without also turning to the hundreds and hundreds of useless institutions, full of employees with political agendas, from both the central and local administration," Enache declared in a conference at Parliament, agerpres.

He added that the text of the motion is finalized and that all 89 AUR lawmakers have signed it, as well as "some from unaffiliated and opposition MPs."

According to him, "by accepting the measures pledged by the Nicusor Dan - Bolojan Government, the lawmakers who will not react to this approach are just betraying their voter base."

On Monday, the Bolojan Government its pledging responsibility before Parliament for the first deficit-cutting fiscal package.
