Baccalaureate exam pass rate before appeals stands at 74.3%

The pass rate for the June session of the Baccalaureate exam, before appeals, stands at 74.3%, according to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC).

The results of the written tests from the first session of the 2025 national Baccalaureate exam (initial display) were published on Friday on the dedicated website.

According to data recorded in the exam platform, the overall pass rate (all cohorts) before appeals is 74.3%, compared to 76.4% in the first session of last year, the MEC informed in a press release.

Out of 104,675 candidates who were present, 77,805 passed - including 73,859 from the current year's cohort and 3,946 from previous years.

The ministry reports a success rate of 79.9% for the current cohort, compared to 81.5% in June-July 2024, while for previous-year candidates, the rate is 32.1% (compared to 31.9% in June-July 2024).

A total of 24 candidates achieved an average score of 10, the maximum possible, with one of them having sat the exams in the special session. The highest number of candidates - 13,598 across all cohorts - obtained average scores in the 9.00-9.49 range.

Additionally, 3,281 candidates did not attend, and 64 candidates were disqualified.

In terms of perfect scores: 220 scores of 10 were awarded in the Romanian Language and Literature exam, 24 scores of 10 were given in mother tongue language and literature. In the compulsory subject of the profile, 2,551 perfect scores were awarded in Mathematics and 1,149 in History.

For the elective subject of the profile and specialisation, 3,221 perfect scores were awarded, with the most (914) in Logic and Argumentation.

The final results (after the resolution of appeals) will be published on 30 June.

To pass the Baccalaureate exam, a high school graduate must meet the following cumulative conditions: take all the language and digital skills assessment tests; take all written exams and obtain at least a grade of 5 in each of them; achieve a minimum average of 6 across the written exams (calculated as the average of the written exam grades).
