Twenty migrants from Bangladesh were caught, on Monday, when they were trying to leave Romania illegally, on the western border, hidden in a lorry transporting cabbage to Italy.

The long vehicles was driven by a Greek and was checked while it was standing in the queue on the A1 motorway to exit the country via Nadlac.

"According to the documents accompanying the goods, the driver was transporting cabbage on the Romania-Italy route. Following the detailed control of the means of transport, twenty foreign citizens were discovered, hidden in a specially arranged place, in the front part of the semi-trailer. Our colleagues established, following the research, the fact that they are citizens of Bangladesh, who entered Romania legally," informed the Arad Border Police.

The Greek driver is being investigated for migrant trafficking, and the clandestine travelers for attempting to fraudulently cross the state border.
