The National Bank of Romania (BNR) is launching a copper-plated tombac coin with the theme "Centenary of the Romanian Chess Federation" into the numismatic circuit on Monday, the bank announced in a press release.
According to the BNR, the obverse of the coin features a composition that includes the rook and the pawn on a chessboard, the inscription "ROMANIA" in an arc, the coat of arms of Romania, the nominal value "1 LEU" and the year of issue "2025".
The reverse of the coin shows a graphic composition representing a chess clock in the foreground, a chessboard in the background, the inscriptions "FEDERATIA ROMANA DE SAH" in a circular arc and "100 ANI".
The copper-plated tombac coins are packaged in transparent methacrylate capsules and are enclosed in presentation leaflets, inserted into cardboard folders.
The maximum mintage for the copper-plated tombac coin is 5,000 pieces.
The selling price for the copper-plated tombac coin is 240.00 RON, excluding VAT, including the presentation leaflet and cardboard folder.
The copper-plated tombac coins with the theme of the Centenary of the Romanian Chess Federation are in circulation throughout Romania. The launch of these coins into the numismatic circuit is carried out by the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj, Constanta, Dolj, Iasi and Timis
