Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared on Wednesday that the "retirement bonuses" requested by Constitutional Court judges are legal, if the institution has the money to pay them, but, in the current context, they are "immoral".
He was asked, in the context of discussions about income cuts, how he comments on the fact that three judges from the Constitutional Court, who are finishing their mandate, could receive 180,000 RON in retirement benefits.
"As far as I know, it is a provision that is included in the legislation that concerns the Court. If I were to make a comment, they are legal, if they have money to give them, at least in the current context I think they are immoral," said Bolojan, in a press conference at Victoria Palace.
Bolojan was also asked whether the Government will allocate the necessary funds in case the CCR does not have money for these bonuses.
"If they don't have money, then I think it could fit into the budget they have, because we will be in a situation where, practically, with some exceptional situations, the budget rectification that will come can only be negative in general. We have no more money to give. I have presented to you what the situation is. And in such situations, I believe that decency and normality should prevail, even if there is, let's say, a certain legal basis or a legal basis can be created for one right or another," he said.
