Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan ordered ministries and public institutions to take new measures to reduce foreign travel.

"Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan asked the ministries and institutions under their subordination and coordination to reduce foreign travel, for the most efficient use of public funds. The memorandum signed by the prime minister and sent to the ministries requests a careful analysis of the foreign travel to be carried out by the staff of these structures and subordinate or coordinated institutions," a press release sent to AGERPRES by the Government said on Wednesday.

According to the cited source, these trips must be strictly necessary for the fulfillment of institutional duties, the achievement of the objectives set out in the governing program, and the promotion and defense of Romania's interests.

"Also, their duration and the number of people in the delegations will be strictly limited to the minimum necessary to achieve the objectives of the visit. The relevant ministries are obliged, for each trip, to submit a memorandum for approval to the Prime Minister and the General Secretariat of the Government, at least 5 days before the start date of the trip," the Executive also says.
