Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared on Saturday in the town of Bardar in the Republic of Moldova that Romanians and Moldovans will return from abroad when better living conditions are created in the localities, referring in context to road, water and sewage infrastructure.
He was asked by the mayor of Bardar, Valeriu Rata, about the policies that need to be implemented so that Moldovans do not leave the country, agerpres reports.
"More Romanians and Moldovans will come home when we create better development conditions in our villages, in our cities. An important condition is to be able to travel and the fact that, during this period, we are building the highways that come towards Ia?i and towards the border, directly to Ungheni, means creating development conditions because jobs also mean products that need to be transported somewhere, that need to be sold somewhere. For more people to come home, we need to have better conditions in as many localities as possible, water and sewage networks, good living conditions and we can do this if we have the investments for these works, we have the money for investments and if we have access to markets and development," said Ilie Bolojan.
The Head of the Bucharest Executive gave the example of the administrative development of the municipality of Oradea, which he led for 12 years.
"I was mayor of a city in western Romania, in Oradea, and you can judge me not by what I tell you now, but by what was done in Oradea during my terms. I was mayor for 12 years and, if you look on the internet, you will see how the city has changed. The same rule applies everywhere, to have good connectivity, to be able to circulate, to have good conditions for development, to have good jobs and to have a place to sell these products. And this can be done everywhere, this happens in eastern Romania and this can happen in Moldova. For this we must be connected to this large market that is the European Union. This is the reality," added Ilie Bolojan.
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is paying a working visit to the Republic of Moldova on Saturday, his first as Prime Minister of Romania.
During the morning, he had a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart, Dorin Recean, in Chisinau, after which the two officials were present at the National Treasure Festival 2025, in the village of Horesti, Ialoveni district.
