Bucharest Jewish Film Festival to bring films, concerts and exhibitions to Bucharest

Film screenings, concerts and exhibitions are scheduled for the 15th edition of the Bucharest Jewish Film Festival, which takes place from Monday to Thursday at ARCUB, informs a press release of the organizers sent to AGERPRES on Monday.

Under the theme "Humor as Therapy", the festival brings to the public a refined selection of international films, short films, intelligent comedies and moving stories, which explore how laughter, irony and self-irony can become authentic forms of survival and solidarity.

The official selection of the festival includes the films "Bad Shabbos" (USA) directed by Daniel Robbins; "Le Pere, le Fils et le Rav Kalmenson" (France) directed by Dayan D. Oualid; "The Property" (Israel/Poland) directed by Dana Modan; "No Name Restaurant" ("Nicht ganz koscher") (Germany) directed by Peter Keller & Stefan Sarazin; "The Last Cowboy in Salford" (UK) directed by Jake Lancaster; "Love in Suspenders" (Israel) directed by Jorge Weller; "Checkout" (Israel/Ukraine) directed and written by Jonathan Dekel, Dr. Shai Satran; "No Harm Done" (France) directed by Sarah Stern; "Masel Tov Cocktail" (Germany) directed by Arkadij Khaet&Mickey Paatzsch.

The festival programme also includes the exhibitions "Vachement coquettes", by Lena Conta Vieru, and "Bucurestiul sefard"/"Sephardic Bucharest", by Felicia Waldman, as well as a concert by the Hungarian band Sefardito.

This year's edition of the Bucharest Jewish Film Festival will end with a concert featuring Oana Berbec - soprano, Adina Cocargeanu - piano, Nicu Spataru - saxophone, Ethan Schmeisser - piano.

The event is organized by the Semper Culturalia Association and the Embassy of the State of Israel in Romania, with financial support from the Government of Romania, through the Department of Interethnic Relations, in partnership with the Bucharest City Hall, through ARCUB - the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Bucharest, with the support of the German Embassy in Bucharest and the Federation of Jewish Communities in Romania.
