Researchers from France, Italy, Spain and Greece are taking part, between September 24 and 28, in the 13th edition of the Bucharest Science Festival, dedicated to science and technology.

The full schedule of the events is available at https://www.bucharestsciencefestival.ro/.

Over five days, the festival transforms various venues - malls, libraries, museums, bookstores or public spaces - into laboratories of knowledge, inspiration and exploration for enthusiasts of all ages.

According to the organizers, the festival opens with the School Science Fair, the opening of the exhibition called "On land and water: inhabitants of the Danube Delta 6,500 years ago," and a roundtable on the role of science education in ensuring a competitive workforce.

At the Science Fair, children, teenagers and young people from schools, high schools and universities will present spectacular chemistry experiments, robotics demonstrations, virtual reality and 3D printing.

According to the organizers, exhibitor teams will also include participants from the University Politehnica of Bucharest, the University of Bucharest and the Military Technical Academy.

On Thursday, the event called "From Galileo Galilei to thermonuclear fusion" will take place at the Humanitas Cismigiu Bookstore - a fascinating meeting with Piero Martin, renowned physicist from the University of Padova and Chief Physicist of the Divertor Tokamak Test facility (DTT), who will present the new European fusion experiment.

The event, organized with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute, invites the public to discover the story of remarkable mistakes made by researchers, whose correction led to major scientific advance and a deeper understanding of the Universe.

Also on Thursday, within the "Kids' Lab" at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, chemistry workshops will be held for pupils aged 7 to 13, where children become scientists for one day. Under the guidance of students and professors from the University Politehnica, participants will experiment safely, ask bold questions and explore fascinating phenomena.

On the same day, the event called "Humanism & AI: challenges and opportunities" will take place at the University of Bucharest's Faculty of Philosophy, a roundtable on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on humanity, which will be attended by professors from the University of Bucharest, the University of Athens and the University of Madrid.

Also within the event, between September 24 and 26, visits will be organized for pupils to the laboratories of the Faculty of Electronics and the "CAMPUS" center of the University Politehnica, as well as to the Biology, Chemistry and Physics Faculties of the University of Bucharest and to the Military Technical Academy.

On Saturday, families with children, as well as visitors of all ages, will discover how a fire truck is built and will meet the firefighters. The event is organized with the support of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU).

Moreover, on September 28, the General Aviation Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) will present at the Baneasa Airport the helicopters used in emergency interventions, including the well-known Black Hawks.

The "Science Days in Adjud" is another event held under the aegis of the Bucharest Science Festival and will be organized in partnership with the "Gheorghe Bals" Technical College.

"Science is not just a collection of theories and formulas, but a common language that helps us understand the world. Through the Bucharest Science Festival, we aim to show how science can be useful to a community, it can build bridges between generations and can offer the tools we need to make responsible decisions. Every event in the festival is an invitation to discover together, to let ourselves be guided by questions and to cultivate our critical thinking," festival director Alexandru Toma Patrascu stated, as quoted in the release.
