Over 500 health experts, researchers, representatives of the academia, decision-makers, as well as representatives of civil society and related industries will participate on October 9 and 10, at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest in the 8th edition of the Stress Congress, an event organized by the Ana Aslan International Foundation, theme "Stress, Mental Health and Longevity".

The participants will analyse the impact of chronic stress on mental, neurocognitive and cardiovascular health, as well as its link with accelerated aging.

"Longevity is not only a matter of biology, but also of psychology. Mental health is the foundation of an active, long and balanced life. Chronic stress is a major risk factor, too often neglected, which affects not only the quality of life, but also life expectancy," according to Luiza Spiru, chair of the Ana Aslan International Foundation, the initiator of the event.

During the two days, scientific sessions, interdisciplinary debates and case study presentations will be organised, addressing subjects such as neurobiology of stress and dementia risk; burnout in the medical and educational professions; emotional health of young and old; innovative therapies for the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases; models of community intervention to promote active longevity.

The event is part of a series of international initiatives carried out by the Ana Aslan International Foundation and is held in partnership with academic establishments and organisations from over 15 European and Asian countries.

It is organised under the aegis of the Dr Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy and accredited by the Romanian College of Physicians (12 CME credits) and the Order of Nurses, Midwives and Medical Assistants in Romania (10 CME credits).
