The cable car that goes up to the Deva Fortress (Hunedoara County) will be restarted next week, after several months in which the inclined elevator was stopped due to technical problems and checks imposed by the regulations in force.
The mayor of Deva, Lucian Rus, declared on Thursday, during the meeting of the Local Council, that the cable car would be put into operation on Tuesday, August 5, not before a very thorough technical check is carried out.
The mayor added that the local administration plans to develop a series of internal procedures related to the operation of the cable car, but also to react in case of technical problems with the equipment.
At the same time, the mayor wants one day a week to be allocated for the maintenance part of the installation, so that, in the future, operational problems can be prevented.
The cable car that goes up the Deva Fortress Hill was inaugurated at the end of March 2024, but was stopped only one day after it was put into operation, for technical reasons.
Several periods followed in which the cable car operated with problems, in January 2025 the elevator being stopped for maintenance.
The cable car that goes up the Deva Fortress has a capacity of 30 people. The investment cost almost 4 million euros, having been covered with funds from the local budget.
