Eugen Sechila, one of Calin Georgescu's most important collaborators, was sent to trial by the General Prosecutor's Office, accused of having built and placed, in the Radovanu rural town, Calarasi county, a cross with symbols of the Iron Guard legionary movement on it.
"The case prosecutor with the Criminal Investigation Section of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice ordered the prosecution of a defendant for the crime of making, selling, distributing, and possessing with a view to distributing fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic symbols, an act provided for by art. 4 paragraph 1 of GEO no. 31 of 2002," the Prosecutor's Office announced in a press release.
According to judicial sources, the person in question is Eugen Sechila.
"From the evidence gathered in the case, the following factual situation emerged. On July 3, 2021, the defendant built and placed in a rural town in Calarasi County, in the vicinity of the city hall, a wooden cross in memory of a person, a cross that had incorporated in its lower part the symbol associated with the legionary movement (Iron Guard), which presented a geometric figure composed of three vertical lines intersected by three horizontal lines. Later, in December 2024, when a public scandal occurred due to the fact that the cross contained a legionary symbol, the deceased's family removed that cross," says the Prosecutor's Office.
The case will be tried at the Oltenita Court.
Eugen Sechila, a former fighter in the Foreign Legion, is active in the "Gogu Puiu" Association, which organizes "outlaw camps" designed to "pull the little ones away from computers" and teach young people "survival techniques" in nature, according to the organization's website.
Sechila was responsible for centralizing the signature for Georgescu's presidential candidacy during last year's election campaign.
