Independent presidential candidate Calin Georgescu on Monday urged politicians to invest in the people, in the "real people," also declaring that the result of the parliamentary election show "the bankruptcy of the political parties."

"Politicians, to recover from your political bankruptcy, you will have to invest in the people, in the real people, not in your parties. Reset things when you see that the party machine has stalled, but reset now in the interest of everyone, not just of some," Georgescu said in a video message sent after the parliamentary elections.

The independent candidate claimed that the result of this election "is actually the result of the parliamentary decisions over the last 35 years."

"We are talking about the result of the wrong decisions that Romanian politicians have made, but most importantly, we are now talking about the result of the right decisions through which Romanians, with their vote, have now restarted the political class. Basically, the Romanian people, who were inoculated that their vote does not matter, saw clearly and precisely and will see in another week that the vote does matter," he added.

Calin Georgescu also mentioned that the result of the parliamentary election represents the "bankruptcy of the parties," an expected one, because the political entities "ultimately played with the trust and intelligence of the people, and now their political stock market of trust has collapsed."

The presidential candidate urged politicians to accept "normality," because "the people is wise."

Independent candidate Calin Georgescu and USR candidate )Save Romania Union) Elena Lasconi face off in the decisive round of the presidential elections, on Sunday, December 8.
