At the World Aquatics Congress in Singapore, where the World Swimming Championships are taking place these days, president of the Romanian Swimming and Modern Pentathlon Federation (FRNPM) Camelia Potec was elected on July 29 to the World Aquatics Executive Board.

''It's a moment of joy for me. It wasn't a personal ambition, but a mission I embarked on with sure steps since my first term as president of the Romanian Swimming and Modern Pentathlon Federation.

I know what it means and how important it is to have top-level representation. I see how things are moving in world swimming and the direction this phenomenon is headed to.

It is essential for us to be there - to be able to permanently assimilate everything new, to actively contribute to the development of this formidable international swimming movement. I want us to drive up this phenomenon even more at national level and show unity, consistency and coherence.

I thank all those who believed in my vision and in Romania's ability to actively contribute to the future of world swimming," Camelia Potec said, according to the FRNPM Facebook page.

President of the Romanian Polo Federation Alexandru Matei, also attending the Congress, congratulated Potec.

"I am extremely happy for Camelia, this is an acknowledgement of the professionalism and seriousness she has shown, both in-country and internationally. I wish her, from the bottom of my heart, work stamina and lots of success!," Alexandru Matei wrote on the Facebook page of the federation he leads.
