Caretaker Prime Minister Catalin Predoiu said on Saturday, on the 145th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and the United States, that Romania is ready to boost cooperation with the "key strategic partner" in the fields of defense, security, and economy, Agerpres reports.
"145 years ago, Romania and the United States established diplomatic relations. We celebrate and honor all that we achieved together with our key strategic partner. We are ready to intensify defense and security cooperation, economic projects and stronger people-to-people connection," the caretaker prime minister wrote on X.
Romania and the United States of America established diplomatic relations on June 14, 1880 at the level of diplomatic agency. Two months later they were elevated to legation status.
