The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Romania (CCIFER) expresses its concern concerning the negative impact on foreign partners, investors and employees, after the recent statements against multi-national companies, according to a press release sent by the organization.
"We are confident in the proper functioning of the rule of law. If there is any evidence concerning the implication of some companies in illegal activities, then they need to be sanctioned according to the current legal mechanisms in force. The general statements in the media create an untrustworthy climate, both internally, and internationally, with immediate consequences. These are already harmful to both current and future investments, as well as the image of a democratic state that Romania needs to project at a European and international level," CCIFER representatives stated.
The private sector has proven in time its availability in being a constructive dialogue partner of public authorities, in building an efficient business environment, transparent through its direct contributions to the Romanian economy, but also through the active implication in public consultations, with all Governments that have led the country.
The continuous investments made by the private sector and the stability of big companies project an image of external credibility, contribute to the development of small and medium-sized companies and of local entrepreneurs, having a determining role in raising the Romanian economy's productivity and competitiveness. Taxes and duties paid, the companies' contribution of technology and expertise, but also the number of employees in an already tense market and a state budget that is searching for a long term balance, are just as many reasons for responsibility in statements and actions.
"In a moment where Romania is on the verge of assuming grand European responsibilities, the quality of dialogue between the private and public sector is essential in order to ensure a successful leadership and durable results, both locally, as well as regionally. CCIFER reaffirms its availability of actively contributing with the expertise of its members to developing public policies, favorable to Romania's economic growth and global competitiveness of the business environment," reads the press release.
CCIFER is a business association that represents the interests of the Romanian-French business community, reuniting over 3,000 companies, totalling 17 billion Euro in turnover and 120,000 jobs. Member in the steering committee of the Association for Romania's Development, since 2016, CCIFER ensures during the period of July-December 2018 the coordination of this dialogue platform, that reunites 45 business organizations, representative for Romania's economy.
