Constanta County hosts the largest Kazakh investment in Romania, carried out by the company KazMunayGas, demonstrating the confidence that our partners from Central Asia have in the potential of this region, stated the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mihai Daraban.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, the CCIR president met on 7 October with the Governor of Mangystau Region (Kazakhstan), Kilybai Nurdaulet, on the occasion of signing an economic cooperation agreement between Constanta County and the Kazakh region.
CCIR representatives noted that this partnership represents a major opportunity to strengthen economic relations between the two states, by facilitating access for investors from Kazakhstan as well as other Central Asian entrepreneurs to the Port of Constanta.
"Constanta County hosts the largest Kazakh investment in Romania, made by KazMunayGas, which demonstrates the trust our partners from Central Asia place in the potential of this region. Constanta stands as a model of economic complexity, with diversified activities across all sectors, and at this point, logistic routes are a strategic priority. The Port of Constanta has all the prerequisites to become a major regional hub, enjoying a key competitive advantage: it serves both as a maritime and river port, thanks to its connection with the Danube-Black Sea Canal," CCIR President Mihai Daraban was quoted as saying in the release.
He underlined that "this unique infrastructure provides direct access for landlocked countries, turning Constanta into a natural gateway to Europe."
"The East-West Corridor is the key to developing our relations with Kazakhstan, offering the country rapid and efficient access to the Black Sea. In this context, we received a highly significant invitation from representatives ofthe Mangystau Region they are willing to include the Romanian side in their negotiations with China on developing the region's port infrastructure. This openness recognises the high-level expertise of Constanta's port operators and creates extraordinary opportunities for trilateral cooperation," added Mihai Daraban.
