Romania's Constitutional Court (CCR) on Tuesday partially admitted the notification filed by President Klaus Iohannis with respect to the modifications brought to the Law on the locally elected officials status, CCR sources told AGERPRES.

Thus, the Court's judges ruled as unconstitutional the modification meant to introduce a new disciplinary sanction for the local and county councilors, namely the one that cuts down by 10 per cent their meeting allowance for maximum six months instead of holding them criminally liable.

On August 1, Klaus Iohannis sent to the CCR a constitutional challenge related to the Law on the modification of Law No. 393/2004 on the locally elected officials status.
