The plenary of the Chamber of Deputies adopted on Tuesday a draft law for the amendment of Law no. 202/2002 concerning equal opportunities and treatment between men and women, with 214 votes "in favor", 8 "against" and 10 abstentions, according to which acts of harassment, sexual harassment or psychological harassment are forbidden, both in public, as well as in private.

"Any behavior of sexual harassment or psychological harassment as defined by the current law is prohibited, both in public, as well as in private," according to the draft law.

The draft also states that such deeds constitute offenses and are sanctioned with a conventional fine from 3,000 lei to 10,000 lei, if the deed was not committed in circumstances in which, according to the law, is considered a criminal offense.

The provisions of this law will be enforced by the Ministry of the Interior, through its police officers from the Romanian Police, officers, and sub sub-officers of the Romanian Gendarmerie, officers and police officers with the Romanian Border Police, in the area of competence, as well as by the local police force.

The draft law has already been adopted by the Senate, and the Chamber of Deputies is a decision-making forum.
