The legal committee of the Chamber of Deputies in a closed meeting on Monday issued a report approving the request for a computer and house search in the case of MP Nelu Tataru, accused of bribe taking, informs Agerpres.

The decision was unanimous, said committee chair Alina Tanasescu (Social Democratic Party - PSD).

"In a unanimous vote, the members of the legal committee issued a report approving the request for a computer and house search of the MP," Tanasescu said.

Before the meeting, Nelu Tataru said that he is innocent, he has never taken money from patients and he wants justice to be done in his case.

The Chamber of Deputies in a plenary meeting is going to debate and decide by vote on the report of the Legal Committee.

Last Friday, Justice Minister Alina Gorghiu sent to the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies a request to lift parliamentary immunity in order to allow the search procedures in the case of former Health Minister Nelu Tataru.

Nelu Tataru was indicted last Thursday by National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutors in a case in which he is accused of having received bribes, as a doctor, sums of money ranging from 100 to 500 lei, as well as food stuffs.
