The Christmas Tree Festival, a charity festival that took place at the National Museum of Art in Bucharest on Thursday evening, collected more than one million euros. The charity festival raises money to provide access to quality education to children who need this help.
The tree that raised the most money at the auction, 220,000 euros, was "A Cosmic Tree of Life", created by visual artist Vlad Nanca, with the support of Unicredit Bank.
Vlad Nanca contributed for the first time with a creation to the Christmas Tree Festival.
"A Cosmic Tree of Life" is conceived as a modular and transformable set of works that can be assembled in two distinct, but equally autonomous configurations. In its vertical form, the work becomes a cosmic fir, a constellation of planets and orbits, which unites the ritual with the discovery, the human with the celestial. Beyond the seasonal reference, this version functions as a reflection on creation, connection and renewal cycles that go much beyond a single moment of the year. He talks about balance and accumulation, the silent growth of value and significance over time, about a type of invisible "interest" that is made up through care, memory and imagination. When reconfigured, the work unfolds in a diptych of planets in orbit, a balanced composition that evokes dialogue, duality and the continuous expansion of the cosmos. Together, the two configurations evoke a vision of transformation and continuity, in which the borders between the earth and the cosmic space, between the intimate and the infinite, dissolve into a single living system, which continues to evolve, to accumulate sense and value," said the artist about his creation made of metal and a Murano glass mosaic.
The "Cosmic Tree of Life" also broke the highest auction record, which was held by Omid Ghannadi's "Radacini"/"Roots" from 2019, auctioned for 180,000 euros.
Another creation that raised a high amount on Thursday night was "Ingerul"/"The Angel" by fashion designer Doina Levintza, which collected 100,000 euros.
In the third place, among the most auctioned creations, was the "Compasiune"/"Compassion" tree, by Omid Ghannadi, Alex Iancio and Robert Nagy, which got 70,000 euros.
