Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu sent a message on Saturday for the Day of Hungarians Everywhere, in which he says that Romania is internationally recognised as a model of good coexistence and intercultural dialogue, underlining that the Hungarian community is also part of this success story, Agerpres reports.
"Today, Romania, an EU and NATO member state with high standards regarding human rights protection and a solid legislative framework concerning the rights of national minorities, is internationally recognised as a model of good coexistence and intercultural dialogue. The Hungarian community is part of this success story and contributes to the development of our country, whether we talk about the economy, education, culture, or administration. The presence of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania in the current governing coalition is yet another proof of this," says Ciolacu in the message sent by the Government.
On the occasion of the Day of Hungarians Everywhere, the prime minister congratulates the Hungarian community in Romania and expresses his appreciation for its contribution to the development of our country and to political stability.
Marcel Ciolacu says that March 15 is a celebration that gives us the opportunity to look not only to the past but also to the future.
"We live in a united Europe, where freedom, solidarity, respect and democratic values are more important than ever. I am convinced that Romania and Hungary share this common European vision, and the relations between our countries will continue along the path of constructive dialogue and cooperation, both bilaterally and within the European Union. Economic cooperation, cultural exchanges and joint projects between the two countries can serve as examples of good neighbourliness and collaboration for the benefit of both peoples," he says.
Ciolacu emphasises that "especially in a world with extremes and divisions, freedom is a right that must be defended, a responsibility that each generation must carry forward with courage and wisdom."
"Today, more than ever, we must build bridges, not walls. Let us remember that freedom and unity go hand in hand and that our future depends on our ability to work together. As Prime Minister, I reaffirm my commitment to a Romania where every citizen feels respected, valued and involved. Dear Hungarian friends in Romania and everywhere, I wish that this day be one of gratitude for the past and hope for the future! Many happy returns, health, prosperity and fulfillment to all!," the Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu also says.
