The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued, on Tuesday, new warnings of heatwave and severe thermal discomfort, valid during the days of July 9 and 10, throughout the country.
According to meteorologists, on Tuesday, there will be a Code Yellow for extremely hot weather in Maramures, Crisana, Banat, Oltenia, Muntenia, continental Dobrogea and in most of Moldova and Transylvania.
The maximum temperatures will be 33 - 37 degrees and, locally, 38 - 39 degrees, in the southern regions, there will be heatwave and high thermal discomfort, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 in extended areas of units. Locally, the minimums will not drop below 20 degrees, characterizing a tropical night.
Throughout Wednesday, July 10, the heatwave will intensify, and a Code Orange will be in force in the counties of Arad, Timis, Caras-Severin, Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, as well as in Bucharest.
In these areas, the maximum temperature values will reach 39 degrees, and the ITU will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. At the same time, the thermal minimums will be 20 degrees.
Also on Wednesday, in the rest of the territory there will be a Code Yellow for heat, with 37 degrees in thermometers and high thermal discomfort.
Meteorologists state that the excessive heat wave will persist throughout the country in the following days of the week.
