The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued, on Monday, new Code Yellow warnings of heat wave and severe thermal discomfort, valid in three quarters of the country, including the Municipality of Bucharest.
According to the specialist forecast, during Monday, a first Code Yellow for heat wave will be valid in Crisana, Banat, Oltenia, Muntenia, continental Dobrogea and in the southern half of Moldova, where there will be heat and high thermal discomfort.
The maximum temperatures will oscillate between 35 and 37 degrees, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will reach and locally slightly exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.
The warning concerns the counties of Arges, Arad, Bacau, Bihor, Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Constanta, Dambovita, Dolj, Gorj, Galati, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Ialomita, Mehedinti, Olt, Prahova, Tulcea, Timis, Teleorman, Valcea , Vrancea, Vaslui and Bucharest.
A second Yellow Heat Code will be in effect on Tuesday, July 9, in Crisana, Banat, Oltenia, Muntenia, continental Dobrogea, locally in Moldova and Maramures, as well as in southwestern Transylvania.
In these regions, the thermal maxima will be 35 - 37 degrees and locally 38 - 39 degrees in the southern regions, while ITY will exceed, in extended areas, the critical threshold of 80 units. Locally, the minimums will not drop below 20 degrees.
The warning areas are: the counties of Alba, Arges, Arad, Bacau, Bihor, Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Constanta, Dambovita, Dolj, Gorj, Galati, Giurgiu, Hunedoara, Ilfov, Ialomita, Iasi, Mehedinti, Olt , Prahova, Satu Mare, Tulcea, Timis, Teleorman, Valcea, Vrancea, Vaslui and Bucharest.
Meteorologists state that the heat wave will gradually continue to expand and intensify throughout the country.
For Bucharest, ANM forecasts extremely hot weather between July 8, 10:00 a.m. and July 10, 10:00 a.m. Thus, the sky will be more clear, and the wind will blow weakly and moderately. On Monday, the maximum temperature will be around 37 degrees, and on Tuesday it will be 38 - 39 degrees. The minimum temperature will reach 22 degrees.
