Code Yellow for wind in over three-quarters of the country on Friday;gusts in 12 counties until Saturday morning

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued Code Yellow warnings for wind intensifications on Friday, initially for over three-quarters of the country valid throughout the day, and then until Saturday morning for areas in 12 counties across Moldavia, Transylvania and Muntenia.

According to the specialised forecast, on Friday between 10:00 and 21:00, the first Code Yellow for wind will be in effect in Banat, Crisana, Maramures, Transylvania, Oltenia, western and central Muntenia, and Dobrogea, where temporary gusts of 50-70 km/h are expected. Moreover, in mountainous areas, wind speeds will reach 70-90 km/h, while at altitudes above 1,700 metres, gusts could reach 90-120 km/h.

The meteorologists mentioned that, during the rest of the day, strong winds will also blow across the country, with speeds of 40-50 km/h.

According to the quoted source, the second Code Yellow for wind will be in effect from 21:00 on 24 October until 10:00 on 25 October in areas of the Eastern Carpathians and the eastern Southern Carpathians, where gusts will reach 70-80 km/h, while at altitudes above 1,700 metres they will range between 90 and 120 km/h.

The counties targeted by this Code Yellow warning are the following: Suceava, Bacau, Iasi, Neamt, Vrancea, Buzau, Prahova, Dambovita, Arges, Brasov, Covasna and Harghita.
