The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a Code Yellow alert of heatwave and high thermal discomfort, valid on Tuesday and Wednesday in eleven counties and in the capital city Bucharest.
Thus, between 12:00 pm and 9:00 pm, both Tuesday and Wednesday, in the southern, central and eastern parts of Muntenia, southern Moldova, as well as in the continental part of Dobrogea, the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will reach the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will reach between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius.
The Municipality of Bucharest and the counties of Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Constanta, Galati, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Ialomita, Tulcea, Teleorman and Vrancea are under a Code Yellow of Heatwave.
At the same time, a Yellow Code warning of atmospheric instability was issued for southern and eastern Transylvania, as well as in the Apuseni Mountains and the Eastern Carpathians. The warning is valid until Tuesday, 9:00 pm, and refers to periods with torrential showers, lightning, wind intensification, storms (gusts of 50-70 km/h) and isolated hail. In short intervals of time or through accumulation, the quantities of water will be 20-30 l/sq m and isolated over 40 l/sq m.
According to the ANM, periods of atmospheric instability will also occur in places in the rest of Transylvania, in Oltenia, Muntenia and northern Moldova.
The counties marked with Code Yellow for rain are: Suceava, Hunedoara, Alba, Sibiu, Brasov, Covasna and Harghita in full and Cluj, Mures, Suceava, Neamt and Bacau, in part.
