A communications system for river vessels, worth 12 million USD, is being donated to the Romanian state by Harris Global Communications Inc as an offset operation.

The Government Decision regarding the Romanian state's acceptance of the donation of certain movable assets, as an offset operation from Harris Global Communications Inc, and their assignment to the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) for administration, was approved in the Government meeting of 31 July and was published Tuesday in the Official Journal.

'The donation of movable assets with a total market value of 12,935,799 USD, made by Harris Global Communications Inc. of the USA, as an offset operation, is accepted on behalf of the Romanian state,' the decision reads.

The Ministry of National Defence, through Military Unit 02150 Bucharest, will carry out the formalities for accepting the donation on behalf of the Romanian state.

The goods will become the private property of the state on the date of the authentication of the donation contract and will be transferred to the administration of the MApN as of the same date, to be used by the Ministry for its specific activities, the source points out.
