The "Sf. Apostol Andrei" Constanta County Emergency Hospital (SCJU) marks a national first by becoming the first public hospital in Romania to have the Rosa robotic system, the most advanced technology for knee replacement surgeries. This investment, totaling nearly 19 million lei, was announced by the hospital representatives on Tuesday, inform agerpres.ro.

The acquisition, worth 18,910,290 lei, was funded by the Ministry of Health and the Constanta County Council.

"To date, with the help of the Rosa system, 88 knee replacement surgeries have been performed, all with excellent results," reads a press release from SCJU Constanta.

The investment includes: the ROSA robotic joint replacement system, designed for knee replacement surgeries; a high-precision C-arm radiology machine that enables intraoperative 3D reconstruction; and two specialised orthopedic and traumatology operating tables equipped with state-of-the-art accessories.

"The new equipment transforms the Orthopedics and Traumatology clinic section at SCJU Constanta into an excellence centre for orthopedic surgery. The Rosa robotic system assists orthopedic surgeons in performing knee replacement surgeries, offering the highest precision," the press release reads.

As part of the National Orthopedics Programme, surgical treatments and prostheses, including those implanted using the Rosa system, are free for insured patients and are reimbursed by the National Health Insurance House.

The Rosa system has been used in Europe for only a few years and represents a standard of excellence in orthopedic surgery.
