The Port of Constanta is a nodal point for trade with the countries in the Black Sea region, the Western Balkans and Asia, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) Mihai Daraban said on Thursday at the Romania-Japan Business Forum.

"The Port of Constanta today is much more than a simple transport infrastructure - it is a strategic gateway to the reconstruction of Ukraine and a vital hub for the entire Black Sea region. The privileged geographical position of the port of Constanta makes it a nodal point for trade with the countries of the Black Sea region, the Western Balkans and Asia. This multiple connectivity creates exceptional opportunities for Romanian companies and their international partners to actively contribute to regional reconstruction and economic development efforts. Through continuous investment in the modernisation of the port infrastructure and through its connectivity with European transport networks, we can position Romania as a state with a strategic importance in the development of trade in Europe," Daraban is quoted as saying in a press statement released on Thursday, agerpres reports.

At the same time, he said that the Romanian market has a special openness to Japanese products, and, in this regard, the local business community is ready for new opportunities for collaboration with Japanese counterparts.

"CCIR is playing the part of a catalyst of Romanian-Japanese economic cooperation. Through our support programmes for the internationalisation of the business of Romanian companies and by facilitating dialogue between the business communities of the two states, we build solid bridges for the development of a sustainable and mutually beneficial economic collaboration. The Romanian market has a special opening to Japanese products. I am convinced that now is a good time for Japanese companies to make their presence felt more strongly on the international markets and I can assure you that the business environment in Romania is ready for new opportunities for collaboration with Japanese counterparts," said Daraban.

CCIR, in partnership with the Romanian Pavilion at the Osaka 2025 World Expo, organised on Thursday the Romania-Japan Business Forum, an event attended by over 80 Romanian companies operating in various business areas.
