A Corporate Governance Department and a service called EURO 2020 Service will be set up under the direct subordination of the Bucharest City Hall, as distinct structures within the specialized apparatus of the mayor, according to a draft decision adopted on Wednesday by the municipal councilors.
According to the appendix to the draft decision, the specific objective of the Corporate Governance Department will be to ensure a stable, uniform and professional management for the companies under the subordination of the General Council of the Bucharest Municipality, subject to provisions of the Gov't emergency ordinance no. 109/2011, in order to support the public authority in helping these companies and the national companies to achieve their objectives under its control.
The EURO 2020 service will be responsible for implementing all the measures and rigors required by UEFA, so as to ensure compliance with the operational and administrative safeguards in this respect, in preparation for the European Football Championship 2020 final tournament.
The EURO 2020 service will also supervise the building on time of the necessary infrastructure work and also that the administrative measures are taken for the rehabilitation of some stadiums, streets and the modernization of the Old Downtown. The service will also ensure communication with partners and compliance with the contractual obligations arising from the partnership agreements and will manage the project budget.
According to the explanatory, Romania is one of the 13 countries that will host matches at the European Football Championship in 2020, the first to be held in this format.
"It is for the first time when our country organizes matches for a final tournament, with the Romanian Capital City being one of the cities that will host four matches counting for the 2020 edition of this Championship, matches that will be played on the National Arena," mentioned the document.
