The acting mayor of the capital city, Stelian Bujduveanu, informs that trams will run again on line 5, starting in December.
"The 'corporate tram' is entering testing on line 5. Tram 5 returns to the north of the capital city, on modernized tracks, with new, quieter and more comfortable vehicles. For tens of thousands of Bucharesters who commute to offices in the north, line 5 becomes a real alternative to the personal car. From December we are putting trams back in motion on line 5", the mayor wrote on his Facebook account on Friday.
In October 2023, the winner of the tender for the rehabilitation of tram line 5 was designated.
"The works involve the modernization of the Nord substation, the municipal and traffic light networks, the design of the public lighting system, as well as technical assistance from the designer", informed the former mayor general, Nicusor Dan, at the time.
