The National History Museum of Romania (MNIR) will host on Thursday, starting at 14:00, the launch of the postage stamp issue called "Dacian Gold. Reuniting the Historical Treasure," an event organised in partnership with Romfilatelia and the Romanian National Post Company.
According to a MNIR release sent to AGERPRES, the issue features the Cotofenesti Helmet and two Dacian bracelets, artefacts of exceptional historical value that were stolen in January 2025 from the Drents Museum in Assen, the Netherlands, recovered by the Dutch authorities and returned to our country's heritage in 2026.
The drawings, depicted on the postage stamp and the First Day Cover were created by renowned Romanian artist Mircea Cantor and depict images of the Dacian bracelets and a detail from the Cotofenesti Helmet. These designs also feature within the graphics of the special piece in the philatelic folder, where he combines the yellow color with the rope, an allusion to the gold of both the helmet and the bracelets - and where, in some places, one can identify, among the modules, the text: "HISTORY IS ROPE."
The souvenir sheet of the issue features, on its stamp, the real images of the three exceptional pieces from the collection of the National History Museum of Romania.
"Mircea Cantor, the artist who created the designs for the postage stamp issue, will be present at the event and will sign autographs for participants, who will receive postcards that they can fill in and send free of charge, on the spot, via the Romanian Post, anywhere in the country. A lovely opportunity to turn a visit to the museum into a message sent on to someone dear", the Museum also conveyed.
