Court presidents from across the country claim on Thursday that the positions expressed recently by the media, the political environment and even state officials, "distorting the truth" regarding the justice system, endanger its future.
In the context of the recent debates on the reform of special pensions, the presidents of the courts sent a message to society on Thursday in which they support the positions expressed by the heads of the courts of appeal and the presidents of the tribunals and "firmly" support the steps taken by the Superior Council of Magistracy in the current context of attacks on the public image of the justice system.
"We draw attention to the fact that the positions expressed in the recent period by the mass media, the political environment, and even by state officials, which distort the truth or present information related to the justice system in a biased manner, taken out of context, endanger not only the place that one of the three powers in the state - the judiciary - has in the rule of law, at least in public perception, but also the future of the justice system as a whole," say the heads of the courts.
They mention that the damage caused by the damage to the public image of the judicial authority endangers the future of the judiciary, by decreasing the attractiveness of the profession.
"In the context in which the profession of magistrate is no longer as desirable as in the past due to the ever-increasing workload, working conditions and numerous prohibitions, including those of a personal nature, the damage caused by the damage to the public image of the judicial authority is not only present, destabilizing the justice system, but also endangers the future of the magistracy, by decreasing the attractiveness of the profession, mainly through the constant stigmatization of the body of magistrates," they emphasize.
The court presidents convey that they support the dialogue between the three powers of the state and urge the expression of points of view regarding the justice system in a manner that serves the interests of the rule of law, following an overall examination of the justice system, aware of the impact of the dissemination of truncated information in an already tense social context.
