The minister of Internal Affairs, Catalin Predoiu, states that in the Crevedia explosion case, action was taken according to all the procedures in force, Agerpres reports.

"At the scene, action was taken according to all the procedures in force by the action commander and the head of the field operation. And, by all assessments, the fact that they intervened so quickly, created a perimeter and removed the dangers making it possible to be avoided the loss of human lives in a much larger number. The procedures were applied according to the law," declared Catalin Predoiu.

The head of the Department for Emergency Situations, secretary of state with the Internal Affairs Ministry Raed Arafat, says that the way the firefighters intervened, after the first explosion in Crevedia, was correct, considering that they took measures to evacuate the population, to limit the damage and in order to cool the tanks.

Arafat mentioned that three robots were in operation at the time of the explosion, and the firefighters who were near the tank had been withdrawn. He emphasized that the interventions of the firefighters assume a certain degree of risk and that measures are taken to reduce these dangers by using robots and withdrawing people in the vicinity of the tanks.
